Capital Eagles Football Camp: Building a Team in Coeur d'Alene

Every football season begins long before the lights come on Friday night.

This week, I had the opportunity to photograph the Capital High School football team during their summer camp in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. While the photos capture the action on the field, they only tell part of the story.

The Eagles put in the work. Long days of practice, countless repetitions, and plenty of hard-fought competition helped every player improve. From the veterans preparing to lead to the younger players finding their place, the team got better every day.

But football camp is about more than football.

The bus rides, team activities, shared meals, and time spent together away from home created bonds that will carry into the season. You could see the team becoming more connected, more cohesive, and more committed to one another as the week progressed.

A huge thank you goes to the Capital Eagles Booster Club parents who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. They fed an army of hungry players and coaches, handled countless logistics, and made sure everyone was taken care of throughout the week. Their efforts were a major reason the camp was such a success.

The coaching staff was equally impressive. They pushed the players to improve on the field while teaching lessons that extend far beyond football—accountability, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. These are lessons that stay with young men long after their playing days are over.

By the end of the week, the results were clear. The team was stronger, closer, and more confident than when they arrived.

Camp was a success in every sense of the word, and if this week was any indication, the Capital Eagles are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Enjoy the photos.
