Speed vs. Size

Friday night was a good example of why you don’t always need to be the biggest guy on the field.

Highland brought the size. Capital brought the speed, intensity, and zero interest in backing down.

What impressed me most wasn’t just that the Eagles beat Highland. It was how they did it.

The intensity never let up.

Highland would score. Something wouldn’t go Capital’s way. A play would break down. And instead of hanging their heads or getting caught up in what just happened, the guys lined up and went to work on the next play.

That’s football.

Next play.

The defense was tough all night, and against a team like Highland, that’s exactly what it takes. You can’t expect to beat a bigger, physical team by giving them easy yards and letting them dictate the game. The Eagles kept attacking, kept flying around, and made Highland earn everything they got.

And that mentality was noticeable.

No panic. No drama. No folding when things got tough.

Just keep playing.

The Eagles proved Friday night that speed, discipline, and a whole lot of fight will cause some serious problems for a big football team.

This was a hard-fought, well-earned win. It feels like the pieces are coming together for this group.

The confidence is there. The intensity is there. The defense is playing tough. And the guys are believing in each other.
