That’s a Winning Streak

Thursday afternoon, the Capital JV team beat Kuna 28–6.

That’s two wins in a row.

That’s a winning streak in my book.

But honestly, the score doesn’t really tell the story.

This was the first time I’ve seen this group physically manhandle another team in every phase of the game and at pretty much every position.

The offensive line absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage. I lost track of how many pancakes those guys served up. Kuna wanted nothing to do with the Capital rushing attack.

Our defensive backs kept their receivers locked down. The outside linebackers kept everything pushed toward the middle of the field, where the interior linemen took care of business. And when a Kuna running back managed to bounce one outside, our outside linebackers and DBs were there to lay the wood.

Everything is clicking for these guys.

I still think that beating they took in Pocatello against Highland taught them something about playing hard and playing physical. It was a painful lesson, but I think they learned from it.

Now we're seeing the payoff.

The intensity is different. The teamwork is different. The communication on the field is different. These guys are playing violent, imposing their will, and looking for contact.

And, honestly, seeing it gives me goosebumps.

I’m not trying to take anything away from Kuna. They’ve got some ballers on that team. They’ve got some big, physical kids, and they’re well coached.

But Thursday belonged to Capital.

The JV Eagles were firing on all cylinders and finally put all the pieces together at the same time.

Next week at Mountain View is going to be a real test.

To win that one, they’re going to need a great week of practice. They’ll need to show up focused, determined, and fired up. And no matter how the game starts or what happens during it, they can’t let up for one play.

If they can do that, I think the Eagles JV team is going to leave Mountain View victorious.

I know these guys have it in them.
