Dayton, Washington

Sometimes the best trips are the simple ones.

Erika and I pointed the car north and headed from Boise to Dayton, Washington, for a weekend getaway at Hotel Hardware, a beautifully restored boutique hotel owned, designed, and operated by our friend Padraic Slattery. Every detail of the hotel reflects Padraic's creativity and eye for design, creating a space that feels both historic and refreshingly modern.

One of the highlights of the trip was spending time in The Bobcat Room, the hotel's intimate cocktail bar. The tiki-inspired cocktails were outstanding and quickly became my favorite part of the evening. It's the kind of place where you can settle into a comfortable chair, enjoy a perfectly crafted drink, and lose track of time.

We also made our way over to nearby Walla Walla, exploring a handful of great wine spots and enjoying the relaxed pace that makes wine country so appealing. Between the vineyards, tasting rooms, and small-town charm, it was the perfect complement to our stay in Dayton.

Great hospitality, great design, great wine, and a chance to slow down for a couple of days. Not a bad way to spend a weekend.
