Barrett Jackson Fall Car Auction With Pops
This past week, @tonyboughtabarn and I spent 4½ days together at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Phoenix — and honestly, I’m not sure we’ve ever done that before. Just the two of us, surrounded by the rumble of V8s, the shine of chrome, and the smell of fresh polish and gasoline.
Seeing the cars was incredible, but what really made it special was being there with him. My dad has been taking me to car shows my entire life. He’s the reason I fell in love with hot rods in the first place. The year I was born, his car won the Boise Roadster Show — so I guess you could say this passion runs deep.
Walking through Barrett-Jackson together, he’d stop to point out the subtle perfection of a paint job or explain the art behind a custom body line. His knowledge of motors, bodywork, and paint is something I’ve always admired, and seeing him light up in that environment was the best part of the trip.
This was an event he’s always wanted to attend, and I’m so glad we made it happen. For both of us, Barrett-Jackson was more than an auction — it was a full-circle moment, a celebration of our shared love for cars, craftsmanship, and time well spent together.
